The airport and its terminals
Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport has one main passenger terminal for domestic and international flights, alongside dedicated Hajj halls and facilities used during the Hajj season. Domestic flights use domestic facilities; international arrivals and Hajj operations use the international-arrival hall and designated Hajj halls. The international-arrival hall and two Hajj halls can handle up to 16 flights at once. The airport serves visitors arriving for Umrah as well as Hajj pilgrims, with the Hajj arrangements operating seasonally.
Getting from MED to Masjid an-Nabawi
The airport is about 20 km by road from Masjid an-Nabawi, and the usual drive takes about 20–25 minutes. Licensed regular taxis and limousine services operate outside the main terminal, and Careem rides are booked through the app. Madinah Bus Route 400 connects the airport with the Prophet’s Mosque, with the airport stop outside Gate 5. Car-rental desks are in the Arrivals Hall Meet & Greet area next to Gate 5. One stay within 10 km of the airport has an airport-shuttle flag.
Is there a Haramain train at the airport?
No. There is no Haramain train station at MED. The Madinah Haramain station is in the city, on King Abdulaziz Road in the Knowledge Economic City area. Route 400 connects the airport with the Prophet’s Mosque, and the Madinah bus network map shows a stop labelled Haramain Express Train. This is a public-bus connection to the train service, not a station at the airport.
