Waadi-e Jinn: The Ultimate Guide to Madinah's Mysterious Valley

Waadi-e Jinn is a popular attraction located just 300 km away from the city of Madinah. This place is famous for all the right and creepy reasons, which fascinate curious individuals from around the globe. The most important mystery rooted in this vast valley is that automobiles and cars start to move forward on the valley without any drivers controlling the steering wheel or any other external force pushing them.

The vehicles specifically start to move towards the direction of Madinah, and people hold the belief that jinns and supernatural spirits exist in this valley. This place sees many travelers and tourists, who sometimes put up camps on the roadside on weekends. The valley is a barren land surrounded by many hills in all three directions, with no sign of life, and a clear sky.

The valley is also called Wadi Al-Baidah. Wadi-e Jinn takes its name from the beings known as jinn. Jinn can be invoked to explain strange or enigmatic occurrences, and they can have good or bad intentions. It makes sense that the locals have known something remarkable about this place since the wadi was named before cars and paved roads were invented. Numerous anecdotes also assert that jinn can be heard calling for humans to abandon the wadi at night.

Wadi-e Jinn in Quran

The earliest Islamic texts attest to the existence of Jinn in the valley and provide the history of Wadi-e Jinn. Jinn in the Quran is mentioned approximately 29 times, the holy book has many stories related to them, they are thought to be unseen beings that coexist with people but lead distinct lives. They can fly and are composed of smokeless fire.

Hazrat Dawood (R.A) narrated a hadith that stated that Amir had inquired of Alqamah concerning the company of Ibn Masood alongside Holy Prophet PBUH on the night of the Jinn. In a dismissive reply, Alqamah informed, that they had previously been with the Prophet PBUH, whom they eventually lost contact with. They looked all over the valleys, and hills for him, but they couldn't find him. They were searched during the night and thought that either the Prophet SAW had been killed or had been abducted by Jinn, then after some time they noticed the Prophet approaching from the Cave Hira around dawn. When asked by the companion where he had been all night, he said that a messenger had come on Jinn's behalf and that he had gone with him to read the Quran for the neighborhood. The Prophet PBUH next displayed the cinders and path remnants.

When Jinn questioned the Messenger of Allah about their endowment, he was told by the Prophet that there would be a provision for everyone who spoke Allah’s name on every bone. The moment it drops on their hands, it would be concealed by epithelium, and the camel's excreta would be the nourishment for their herds of animals.

The Quran contains numerous hadith and verses on Waadi-e Jinn. As a result, Wadi Jinn is revered by Muslims as a blessed valley that represents the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) deep devotion. They think that the valley is home to Jinn, who is responsible for the strange happenings there. Many locals have made this claim to have stopped over in the location after nightfall and heard human-like voices stating, “This is not your place”. This is our home, also the Messenger of Allah commanded everyone to refrain from performing "Istinja," which is the act of cleaning the front and back parts of the body after excreting using sandstone, toilet paper, or a clean stone in place of water, as they were the source of food for the Jinns.

Scientific Explanation

Since Wadi-e Jinn history in Islam is a popular topic of discussion curious tourists set out to check it from a scientific perspective, they turned off their ignitions and put their cars in neutral to give the location a scientific test drive. They were stunned and perplexed when their car began to move in an upward direction. It has been stated that cars can travel up to 120 km/h without any person driving it.
Water is also poured onto the road to experience this weird phenomenon. Locals coming here have observed that water moves upward rather than flowing down the slope. Experts in geology refer to this phenomenon as "reverse gravity." It is a phenomenon that usually happens around mountains made up of rocks. According to the valley’s scientific approach, there are chances of high magnetic forces that attract vehicles like cars and wheels offering efficiency in motion.

According to a different notion, locations with strong magnetic fields cause mental and visual illusions. The terrain causes it to appear as though something is uphill when it is actually downhill. As a result, many scholars think that the downhill valley slope is mistaken for an upward slope.
